Local Initiatives

Since the chapter's inception in 2001, we have been dedicated to expanding our reach on the community. We strive to provide community service and programming to the surrounding areas by implementing our founding principles in our day to day workings.

March of Dimes

One of our national partnerships is with March of Dimes. Sigma Iota Zeta worked to raise over $500 for the March for Babies 2012 Walk. The money raised helps fund the research that fights against preterm-births and helps keep premature babies alive. We hope that we can reach our new goal of $1,000 for the 2013 Walk. Please check back with us in January as we start our fundraising efforts!

Breakfast with the Artist

The Breakfast with the Artist is our annual scholarship fundraising event. This event is held in the Spring and is open to the community. We work with local artists and entertainers to provide a morning full of music, food, culture and fellowship.

Columbus Aquarium And Zoo

We worked with the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium during their annual De-light program. The Zoo leans heavily on the community to assist in removing the lights after their Holiday display in order to keep the zoo safe and minimize costs in re-purchasing damaged lights. We were happy to have local college students and our auxiliary youth group members accompany us in this effort. We were able to meet with other volunteers from established companies including Cardinal Health and The Ohio State University.

Ronald McDonald House

We recently visited the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) on Livingston Avenue to cook and serve dinner to the current residents. RMH is ran primarily by community volunteers. RMH houses parents and families of children who are receiving inpatient treatment at Nationwide Childrens' Hospital. They are able to stay here for a minimal cost due to all the volunteers. Making meals for the family allows them to worry about one less thing while they are concentrating on their loved ones.
