Meet President Gwendolyn D. Bess

Gwendolyn D. Bess proudly serves as the President of the Sigma Iota Zeta Chapter of Zeta
Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Guided by the Sorority’s founding principles of Scholarship,
Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood, President Bess is dedicated to fostering
community impact amongst the Central Ohio community with informative programming around
social, health, economic justice, education, and youth development.
 
President Bess is an accomplished educator and dedicated leader currently serving as a high
school administrator in Columbus City Schools. With over 20 years of experience in education,
she has built a strong foundation in instructional coaching, student success strategies, and
fostering positive school culture.

A proud graduate of Kentucky State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Education and a
Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton, President Bess also holds
principal and secondary teaching licensure. She also enjoys serving her community through service and connecting with other organizations.
 
Her role as the Chapter President is a cherished position after reaching her 20-year membership anniversary in 2025. With her unwavering zeal to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and the SIZzling Sigma Iota
Zeta Chapter, President Bess exemplifies the essence of Finer Womanhood.
